Welcome to Colonel Light Gardens Primary School

Colonel Light Gardens is an historic suburb situated just south of the Adelaide CBD. The campus is located adjacent to the beautiful surrounds of Mortlock Park and features the historic buildings of Grange and Mortlock, named after key local identities associated with the early history of the suburb.

The school currently has an enrolment of 690 students which is at capacity. The school is highly sought after due to its proud reputation and excellent programs. A ‘zone of right’ is currently in place to ensure the access rights of families living within the defined school zone.

Colonel Light Gardens has developed a culture of success and achievement through its established programs and strong relationships forged between staff, parents and students. The staff is a dedicated and highly professional team who work hard to ensure that their teaching methods engage and extend all learners. They are working conscientiously to ensure that they are meeting the needs of contemporary learners.

The parents and other community members take great pride and interest in the successes of the school. The Governing Council are passionate and highly motivated to ensure the ongoing success of the school through a desire to fully support the teaching staff and various curriculum programs.

The school culture is underpinned by a set of enduring values that have been shaped by the community and these are evident in all that we undertake as a school.

To provide every child with the foundations of success now and into the future there is a comprehensive curriculum on offer from Reception to Year 7. The school also offers curriculum specialists in the areas of Performing Arts, Japanese, Visual Arts and Physical Education.

Our aim is to provide a coherent learning program, based on the Australian Curriculum, for all students as they move through the different levels of schooling. Our staff engage with their own professional development and growth to implement the most current methodologies to further inspire the children’s learning.

2015-2018 Strategic Plan

We look forward to working with you as a partner in your child’s learning and trust that you experience an enduring and happy association with our school.
